   A yellow cylindrical mass of egg capsule of certain species
   of whelks ({Buccinum}), which resembles an ear of maize.

   (Zo["o]l.)
   A genus of large univalve mollusks abundant in the arctic
   seas. It includes the common whelk ({B. undatum}).
