Job \Job\, n.
   The hero of the book of that name in the Old Testament; the
   typical patient man.

   {Job's comforter}.
   (a) A false friend; a tactless or malicious person who, under
       pretense of sympathy, insinuates rebukes.
   (b) A boil. [Colloq.]
