Terek \Ter"ek\, n. [Because found on the Terek River in the
   Caucasus.]
   A sandpiper ({Terekia cinerea}) of the Old World, breeding in
   the far north of eastern Europe and Asia and migrating to
   South Africa and Australia. It frequents rivers.
