Traversing \Trav"ers*ing\, a.
   Adjustable laterally; having a lateral motion, or a swinging
   motion; adapted for giving lateral motion.

   {Traversing plate} (Mil.), one of two thick iron plates at
      the hinder part of a gun carriage, where the handspike is
