         (CREN) The organisation responsible for providing
        networking service to {BITNET} and {CSNET} users.  CREN was
        formed in October 1989, when {BITNET} and {CSNET} were
        combined under one authority.  {CSNET} is no longer
        operational, but CREN still runs {BITNET}.
