         (glibc) The {run-time} library for the {GNU C}
        {compiler}, {gcc}, and others.  glibc is the {source code} for
        libc.a.  It is maintained separately from the compilers and is
        a superset of {ANSI C} and {POSIX}.1 and a large subset of
        POSIX.2.
