Maculate \Mac"u*late\, a. [L. maculatus, p. p.]
   Marked with spots or macul[ae]; blotched; hence, defiled;
   impure; as, most maculate thoughts. --Shak.

   spot. See {Macula}, and cf. {Macule}, v.]
