Mantispid \Man*tis"pid\, n. (Zo["o]l.)
   Any neuropterous insect of the genus {Mantispa}, and allied
   genera. The larv[ae] feed on plant lice. Also used
   adjectively. See Illust. under {Neuroptera}.
